Supplement Guide
In an ideal world, we would get all the minerals, vitamins, micros & nutrients we need from our food. But for a LONG list of reasons, that’s just not possible anymore.
So, after you have implemented the BEST whole food diet you can, there are a few ways that I recommend starting off supplementing those missing minerals, nutrients, etc. If you have specific health issues, you may need to add others, but you may be surprised to see just how much a few high-quality, whole food-based supplements can do for your health.
What supplements I recommend everyone take daily:
•Ningxia Red (antioxidant purée for cellular repair & health)
•Beef Liver (key whole food minerals & vitamins) use code LILYEIDE10
•Fermented cod liver oil (brain & dental health) use code LILYEIDE10
•Mineral Essence (trace minerals essential for all body systems)
•Whole food vitamin C (your body can’t make it, but needs the vitamins & minerals in whole food vitamin C for 3,000+ body functions) use code LILYEIDE10
•Life 9 probiotic (restores gut health, which is the base of your health)
How to choose a good quality supplement:
The easiest way to know if you’re getting a good quality supplement is to look into the company. What are their standards & values? Then, look at the ingredients label on supplements & start googling! Are those synthetic or natural forms of the vitamin? In the example here, this supplement has natural B12, which is what you want.
Now, what type of natural vitamin is this? Yes, consuming natural vitamin C is good in theory, but it’s often Ascorbic Acid or Citric Acid, which ARE natural forms of vitamin C, but they are also highly processed, PARTIAL forms of vitamin C, which actually cause harm. You want whole food vitamin C from something like acerola cherries. Whole food supplements (beef liver, acerola powder, etc) are the best way to get vitamins into your body. They will have not only the vitamin you need (Vitamin C, for example) but it will also contain the other minerals/vitamins that your body needs to uptake (use) that vitamin. Whole food supplements are going to be the most bioavailable (most beneficial & easiest for your body to use).
If it is a whole food supplement, then you want to look at the sourcing. If it is an animal supplement, was the animal grass-fed, and did it get antibiotics or vaccines? If it’s a plant supplement, how was it grown? Organically, outside, in a greenhouse?
Lastly, you need to check for unnecessary additives. Sugar, binders, fillers, etc.
You want to avoid these fillers… Sodium Benzoate, Magnesium Stearate, Titanium Dioxide, Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Silicate, Soybean Canola or Sunflower Oil, & Shellac. And avoid these sugars… Cane syrup/juice/syrup, Corn syrup, Dextrose, Drimol, Ethyl maltol, Fructose, Glucose solids/sugar/syrup, Isoglucose, Maltodextrin, Maltose, Sucanat, Sucrovert
